POP Account - Thunderbird

Steps to Configure your NIC eMail Account as POP in Thunderbird

Note

IMAP/POP feature is not available for your account. To enable it, please reach out to your Delegated/Department Administrator.

  1. Enable POP in the NIC eMail interface.
  2. Launch Thunderbird application in your system.
  3. Navigate to Tools and select Account Settings.
  4. At the bottom of the left pane, click Account Actions and select Add new account.
  5. Enter your name, your NIC eMail address, and your NIC eMail address's password.
  6. Once done, click Configure manually.
  7. Select the Protocol as POP3.
  8. Once done, provide the POP3 and SMTP server details.
  9. You may require an Application Specific password to set up the account on other devices if Two Factor Authentication is enabled for your account.
  10. In the Server Hostname, provide pop.mgovcloud.in for Incoming and smtp.mgovcloud.in for Outgoing.
  11. Select the port numbers to be '995' and '465' respectively. 
  12. Make sure that the Authentication type is 'Normal Password' for both servers. 
  13. Provide the complete NIC eMail address as your username. 
  14. Click Done to save the changes. Clicking Test might give an error message and reset the settings you configured.
