Configure NIC eMail in Outlook for Mac - POP

Steps to Configure NIC eMail account as POP in Outlook

Note

IMAP/POP feature is not available for your account. To enable it, please reach out to your Delegated/Department Administrator.

  1. Log in to your https://mail.gov.in/ account to enable POP access. (Login to https://mail.gov.in/ >> Settings >> Mail Accounts >> POP >> Enable POP Access by clicking the checkbox).
  2. Launch the Microsoft Outlook application in your system.
  3. Go to the Tools menu, and select the Accounts option.

  4. Choose POP account.

  5. Enter the below details in the Account Information page:
    • Email Address: Enter your NIC eMail address.
    • Username: Your NIC account eMail address.
    • Password: Enter your NIC account password in the Password field. (You may require Application Specific password if Two Factor Authentication is enabled for your account.)
    • Type: Select POP from the dropdown list.
    • Incoming Server: pop.mgovcloud.in 
    • Select the Use SSL to connect checkbox.
    • Outgoing Server: smtp.mgovcloud.in
    • Select the Override default port and Use SSL to connect checkboxes. 
    • The Port Number filed next to Outgoing server will be enabled now. Set the Port Number to 465

  6. Click Add Account.
  7. After the account details are validated, the details will be displayed in the Accounts tab.
  8. Close the Accounts tab, and you will be able to access your NIC eMail account on Outlook for Mac. 

Note

If you're using SAML Authentication for your organization, you need to generate an Application Specific Password to authenticate email clients to access NIC eMail using IMAP/POP.
